That way you will never miss one of our outstanding episodes. So you might be wondering, Jeff, what is oxidative stress and why should I care? Well, oxidative stress is what happens when your body's internal cleanup crew, the antioxidants, can't keep up with the damage from free radicals. Think too many sparks and not enough fire extinguishers. Or you can think of it simply as your body rusting from the inside out. It's what makes your cells age faster, your recovery much, much slower, and your brain much, much foggier. And your energy will crash harder, even when you're rested. And in the NASCAR world, you're exposed to the perfect storms of oxidative stress, the exox fumes, the track chemicals, the solvents and brake compounds, the travel stress and jet lag, adrenaline spikes, sleep disruption, fast food, and poor nutrition on the road. Now, let's go through a few uh evaluation questions to see maybe if you might have oxidative stress. So in uh the Jeff Foxworthy style oxidative stress assessment, here we go. You might have oxidative stress if you wake up tired even after a full night's sleep. You might have oxidative stress if the post-race buzz feels more like brain fog now. You might have oxidative stress if you're snapping quicker at people that you actually like. You might have oxidative stress if your joints feel older than your contract says that you are. And you might have oxidative stress if your stamina runs out while your season pass says unlimited. Now you might have oxidative stress if you stopped believing that you can truly, truly feel energized again. And if you just laughed and thought, oh crap, that's me, well, stick around because we're gonna explain how to know and not guess. And here's the great news you don't need a PhD or a blood draw to know how stressed your systems really are. You can measure oxidative stress right at home using an advanced functional lab test. That's right, these at-home functional tests have been around for decades and they're amazing at revealing the underlying root causes of why your performance is lagging behind. So we use one in particular. Now, many of the lab tests we use uh will show signs of oxidative stress. There's no actual marker for the oxidative stress, but let's give an example the organic acids test. Uh, we call it the Candida Metabolic and Vitamins test. It's a simple urine test and it reveals cellular, thank you, energy production. It also looks at mitochondrial efficiency. So you know mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cells, and we can see exactly how efficient they are operating. Um, it'll show some markers that indicate oxidative stress levels. It'll also show uh your detox capacity, your body's ability to detoxify. Uh, it'll show neurotransmitter balance. This is this is one that can really tie into brain fog and anxiety, um, central nervous system dysregulation, um, and so much has over 75 different biomarkers, so biological markers that help uh somebody that knows how to interpret this lab test, like myself or any integrative health practitioner or naturopathic doctor, to be able to uh pinpoint these underlying root causes and actually see the imbalances for gut health, for energy, for um mental clarity and brain fog and things like that. This lab has been trusted by functional medicine practitioners since probably the 1970s or 80s. Um, and it's included in our vitamin TOX test bundle for a reason because it reveals exactly what needs to be addressed first. Now you might be wondering, how do I reverse oxidative stress? Well, the solution, it's not that complicated, and it's just overlooked. To reverse oxidative stress and reboot recovery, you need to do a few things. Number one, you need to reduce the toxic load. We can do that by starting with a proven functional medicine detox. And I highly recommend doing this for 21 days. Uh it's basically a seven-day program. You do that for either seven days, 14 days. Uh, if you've never done one before, 21 days is definitely the place to start. And this helps to clear out the toxic buildup. Now, when I say detox, you think, oh, it might be running to the bathroom or uh, you know, feeling nauseous. And, you know, maybe you might have those symptoms temporarily, but usually not. That's how we've reduced toxic load. Then replenishing antioxidants would be the next step. Think um NAC. So that's an acetylcysteine, glutathione, uh, vitamin C as ascorbic acid, coenzyme Q10. These will help to replenish the antioxidants. And of course, we can see these markers on that organic acid test. Uh, we can see your levels of NaC, glutathione, vitamin C, coq10 to know if you're getting the uh or maintaining the proper amount of minerals or these antioxidants. And then the next step is to restore that mitochondrial function. This is your body's energy engine. And the uh last, we well, not last, but next, we want to rebalance minerals. So most of our drivers are depleted specifically in magnesium, sodium, and potassium. Now, a lot of times you can get the sodium and potassium in an electrolyte blend. There's a lot of them out there that I certainly wouldn't recommend. Um, and there's a few key ones that I would recommend. And then the magnesium, you know, our minerals are uh very important to maintain a specific ratio. So you can't just overload on one or another. We want to make sure that we see a balance between, you know, specifically that magnesium between calcium and sodium and potassium, uh, because when they are out of balance, they can cause uh lots of health issues. And then, of course, we want to repair while you sleep. Deep sleep is where oxidative stress gets turned off.
