I'm your host, jeffrey Mort, integrative health practitioner and high performance health coach, and today we are delving into a scintillating topic, perfectly situated for the month of love, february. Yes, we're talking about fueling your desire through dietary approaches to boost libido and sexual performance. So stay tuned, you're going to love this episode. Hello, I'm Jeffrey Mort. I'm grateful you're here. Ah, yes, love is in the air and I'm so grateful for you being here today with me on the Breaking Boundaries podcast for purpose-driven entrepreneurs. And what better way to celebrate this month than by exploring how nutrition can ignite passion and enhance our sexual health?

Now I do have to give you my disclaimer that, of course, this podcast, or myself, does not claim to give any medical advice or provide any diagnosis or treatments or cures, but what I do is I get to the root cause of the problem. And how I know specifically about this problem here is because, when my health was at its worst back in 2014, 2015, I had severe, unhealthy levels of inflammation, I had chronic illnesses, I had disease, I had all kinds of problems, and all of these problems compounded and caused things like low libido and, I'm sad to say, but I'm not ashamed to say, poor sexual health in so many ways and, like a lot of men and this was back in my, you know, I would say early 40s I turned to pharmaceuticals. I went to my doctor, I got a prescription for Cialis and although that, you know, provided some relief from some of this dysfunction, they had profound side effects that I just did not want to deal with anymore, and some of those side effects were debilitating headaches that just wouldn't go away for, you know, three or four days. You know, cialis is a little bit different than Viagra. Viagra lasts up to maybe four to eight hours and the Cialis lasts up to 36 hours, so the side effects would carry for days and days. You know those headaches, muscle aches and pains joint pain, which I already had but this medication just exacerbated those issues. As well as allergy symptoms, I had debilitating seasonal allergies and that medication just made these symptoms even worse. But as I took control, I found that I had less need for this medication. As I took control of my health is what I meant there I had less need for this medication and the more I took control of my health, I found that sexual performance without prescription drugs got actually better and better. As a matter of fact, it's so good that I would say that it was better in my mid 40s than it was in my teens or 20s. But that can be a conversation for another time.

So let's jump right into the seductive sustenance protocol. Here we go. We're gonna start talking about leafy greens. They're not just for salads anymore, things like spinach, kale, collard greens. They're packed with magnesium, and this mineral not only boosts testosterone levels, but also improves blood flow. And, as we all know, higher testosterone levels mean enhanced libido and better sexual performance, but not just for men. Elevating bringing up levels of testosterone to normal levels also helps women as well with sexual performance.

Now you might be thinking, jeff, leafy greens. Every time I eat them, they give me gas, they make me feel bloated, which we all know isn't very sexy feeling. So this could very well be from a deeper, underlying root cause that we can address with advanced at home functional lab testing to know if it's something like bacterial overgrowth in the gut that are actually feeding on those foods, causing a byproduct of gas and then, of course, bloating. And then what do we do? We rebalance that overgrown gut bacteria with something like the CBO protocol, the Candida Bacterial Optimizer protocol that we have at Love Energy Wellness in our functional medicine practice and that is clinically formulated to do just that to rebalance, naturally.

All right, moving on berries, those little bursts of loving flavor are not only delicious but also beneficial for our sexual health, and here's the reason why Things like blueberries, strawberries and raspberries they're all packed with rich antioxidants and flavonoids, which also improve blood flow and stimulate something called nitric oxide production, and this translates into things like improved sexual arousal, improved lubrication and overall performance. Who knew you could get all that from berries? All right. Next, healthy fats. Healthy fats they're the superheroes of our dietary choices. Things like avocados, nuts, high quality extra virgin olive oil those are all packed with healthy fats that support hormone production and improve heart health. And we all know healthy hormone levels, good balance of hormones and a strong heart are crucial for a satisfying sex life. Next, omega-3 rich food. You hear me talk about Omega-3s all the time. These are also another superstar. They're like the Swiss army knives of nutrition. Things like fatty fish, walnuts, even chia seeds, provide us with Omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and improve blood vessel function. So this means better blood flow and improve sexual health, including stamina, all right.

Next, who doesn't love chocolate? I do, I have to admit. It's my weakness, it is my kryptonite, and I love good, high quality, high content of cacao, talking like you know, not just 60%, but like 80, 95, 100% cacao, especially with sea salt. But you know who doesn't love chocolate? And guess what? Dark chocolate. It's not just a guilty pleasure, it's also an aphrodisiac. It's a libido booster, also packed with flavonoids. Dark chocolate enhances nitric oxide production, neurotransmitter function and blood flow, leading to heightened sexual arousal and pleasure. When you are getting a higher release of dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin, oxytocin all of those things you're gonna have a better sexual experience.

Now, if you're feeling exotic, we'll reach for that bottle of pomegranate juice. You didn't think I was gonna go there, did you? Studies have shown that pomegranate juice increases testosterone levels and improves erectile function, making it a natural aphrodisiac. And if you need me, if you need me, of course you need me. You might wanna exercise this one a little earlier in the day, so the caffeine isn't keeping you up after your little interlude. But a cup of matcha green tea.

Green tea's catechins have the ability to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation. You'd see me going back to that inflammation word. I shouldn't say reduce inflammation. Create a healthy balance of inflammation is what I should say there. And this promotes better cardiovascular health and enhance sexual function. So, yeah, that's right. That matcha green tea is definitely on the menu for a night of romance.

Let's say so now for you wine lovers out there, you can rejoice for a minute here, because you'll be happy to hear that red wine, when consumed in moderation now, can be a delightful addition to your romantic evenings. It's star compound, resveratrol, improves blood flow and boosts nitric oxide production. And I keep going back to that nitric oxide production as often as I go back to the healthy levels of inflammation, because nitric oxide production is a. It's very important for sexual performance, so that resveratrol can help to enhance sexual arousal and pleasure. But remember, with the wine, I would say personally I say, and the research backs this up that the juice isn't worth the squeeze with the alcohol or the wine specifically red wine in this instance Even though moderation is key, you might wanna consider working with your favorite integrative health coach to be able to choose a quality supplement that contains resveratrol.
